2020 has a wonderful start! On January 1st I was notified that my “No Words Needed” got a Special Recognition Award at the 9th Annual "All Women" International Art Competition of Light Space Time Gallery. (The gallery received 1047 entries from 34 different countries from around the world.)
On the 1st I also received an email from Artfinder about another new order – my “West of Eden” was sold to a collector in Isle of Man, United Kingdom.
And yesterday night was the opening reception of SOBO Art Gallery’s “Word Play” Exhibition, where my “No Words Needed” will be on show until 02/01/2020.
This painting is the 4th piece of my "Encounter" series. The main character of this series is a bachelor in his early fifties. As I started working on the gentleman's characteristic and the more I was thinking about how I should shape his fate in my story, I became more and more fond of him. Later I realized an inexplicable feeling of déja vu when I was painting him. And from that second I was no longer in control of the events on the canvas.
This part 4 is about the gentleman's first romantic rendez-vous at a coffee shop called "Café de Paris" after an unexpected encounter in the rain with the lady he has never seen before. My ultimate goal with this painting was to capture the moment when their senses tell them they belong to the other one. Because when two souls recognize each other, there's no words needed.
